Our little problem solver

Connor has been wowing us this week with his critical thinking skills. Unfortunately they seem to be at their peak after we've put him in bed. We went up to Jake's parents house for a few days this week and one night we were there Connor came down (after we'd put him in bed, of course), and proudly announced "I cleaned my room!" On the way upstairs back to bed he told us that his room was "a mess" so he decided to clean it. He washed the walls, the bed, and Gram's rocking chair . . . .with an entire package of wipes (and Ellie's help, of course). He was so proud of himself. I guess I should be glad that my son seems to have inherited some of my neat freak qualities. :) Apparently the bunny got the job of being the wipe holder

We had a great (clean!) time with Jake's parents. Jake's brother and his cute fiance, Andrea, were there for a few days as well. It was fun for us to finally meet her. We're very excited to have her in the family!

Jake's mom is a champion garage-saler, so we went on Saturday morning for a little recreation. We broke the rule of not bringing anything home, but I found a set of Corelle dishes (13 plates, 11 bowls, and 11 little plates) in really good shape for $5. Unreal! I also found a roaster pan for 25 cents. Oh what fun bargain shopping is!!
Ells showing off her ballet shoes. She wore these nonstop-including naptime.
Ellie was very taken with Andrea (or "Addy/Mommy", as she called her) too. Ellie wouldn't smile, but Andrea looks lovely.:)
I know y'all in North Carolina are getting a heat wave, but we're at the opposite end here. We were driving through Yellowstone/Island Park yesterday on our way back to my parent's house from Bozeman and saw some patches of white stuff still on the ground. Eesh! It snowed too (it didn't stick, but still) as we were driving through Island Park. I want summer weather!! Is it too much to ask to break 70?!?!?

So, Jake and I through we had our kids in bed for the night and were starting to enjoy our "adult" evening. Connor came up after about 20 minutes and said he needed help getting his sleeping bag back on his bed (he's been sleeping in a sleeping bag for a week now and thinks it's really neat). So, Jake and I went downstairs to get our kids tucked in again. Connor had his sleeping bag on the floor, and Jake picked it up to put it on the bed again. Out came a plastic golf club, a ball, crayons, a Slinky, toy plane, a book, and two 3 lb weights. Seriously. He said the weights were "to keep my sleeping bag from falling off my bed." It was really hard to not laugh too hard when we were getting him back in bed. I'd love to be able to see how his mind works sometimes. We'll see what happens tomorrow. . . . . .

You want some heat? Come to Florida for a day and then you'll be happy with your "cool" weather up there! It's seriously so bad here! Looks like you guys are having fun with family--I'm jealous!

hee hee! I love the pics of ellie and can't believe how big she is! What fun pics! Yet another reason for you to move to Denver Abbs - we've been enjoying 80-95 degree weather consistently for 2 weeks and inconsistently for a month!

That is hilarious! I guess he didn't think his body was heavy enough?
And swell bargaining, my friend. I just love a good deal!

It looks like Abby is the one who keeps up this blog, and Abby, I am sure that you don't remember me (I think we met once or twice several years ago), but hopefully Jake does - Bethany (Hunt) Rogers from Jake's high school. It's probably been 5 years. Anyway, don't feel the need to post this on your blog (please). I just wanted to say hello to Jake (and you), and congrats on graduating dental school. Your kids are very cute. I was hoping to find an email address for him so we could "catch up" a little bit, but this is as close as I'll get, it looks like. I don't know that the comments section of a blog is the best place to do that, but I'd love to hear from him about the past 5 years. I was looking at old pics recently, and thought I'd try to get in contact with some of my old friends. Anyway, Chris and I are living in Boise right now (sort of), and my email is BethanyRogers@chiwest.com, if he's got the inclination to drop me a line or two. I'd love to hear from him.
