I had just about resigned myself to rainy season being upon us. We had a week of cooler temperatures and rain, so I put the fans away and packed away pretty much all of our summer clothes. Great, I thought. This will be perfect since Ellie's summer stuff is all 18-24 months and she's outgrowing it, so I can pack it away and get out my (warmer) 2T clothes. Not to be, my friends. Apparently that cooler week was just to psych me out. Monday dawned-sunny and HOT! So, we spent the morning after preschool at a park, then headed off to the store for some popsicles to enjoy while the kids played in the wading pool. Highly unusual for Seattle, yes, but I'll take it. :)
Connor and Jude were very excited about their popsicles. I love Jude's pose- classic little boy. :)
For FHE we went on a picnic to the Washington Park Arboretum- a beautiful botanical garden close to our house. This spot totally made me think Jane Austen. I half expected to see Collin Firth come out from behind that big bush (that would have made a nice addition to our FHE)!!
But, I had my own studly Mr Darcy and two cute cherubs
Ellie kept lying down in the grass and saying, "I asleep! I asleep!" Her vocabulary seems to be developing at warp speed. I still can't believe she's turning 2 this week. Yikes!
Well, the nice weather didn't last. It's gotten progressively colder and rainier throughout the week. So, this is how we enjoyed some of conference:
Although, don't let the kids fool you. They really weren't this subdued for the sessions. In fact, despite Jake and my encouragement to go play in their room, they insisted on staying with us and trying to climb all over us on the couch as we were trying to listen. I'm so glad we can get podcasts of Conference now, because with small children my conference viewing is choppy at best. I love to listen as I'm folding laundry or cleaning. I'm really excited to review Elder Bednar's talk especially. I've felt lately that I need to make my prayers better - to actually make them have meaning instead of just feeling like it's one more thing to check off my list like brushing my teeth. It always amazes me how there's always a talk that just seems to be directed right at you, with your situation and concerns. Isn't it wonderful to have inspired leaders and a living prophet?
Just had to share- my clematis is blooming again. It's grown a lot since the summer, beautiful thing. It just makes me happy. :)
