How we spent Conference

I'm trying to be really good about keeping caught up on the 'ol blog. Maybe this is just an extension of nesting, since I've already scrubbed my kitchen floor, cleaned my drawers, done as much laundry as I can, organized my game closet. . .you get the idea. The fact that this baby is for sure coming by Friday (more on that later) probably has something to do with it too.
We had a great conference weekend. I always love General Conference, but this year I appreciated it even more because I was able to be spiritually uplifted from the comfort of my couch instead of a church bench. :) I don't know about y'all, but I usually get a list of things I feel impressed to work on during Conference, but within a week or two I'm back to the same old routine. So, one thing Jake and I talked about in addition to WHAT we felt impressed to work on was a discussion of HOW we were going to implement the changes. We've been at it for two days and I've noticed a difference. I just hope that this baby doesn't throw too big of a wrench in our attempts. . . .
This isn't from Conference weekend - just a random weekly pic. I made stew and bread for dinner on Tuesday, and Connor all of a sudden stood up on his chair and started eating his bread like this. We asked him why, and his response was "because then I can taste the jam first."

Our community had their annual fall fiesta on Saturday- conveniently timed in between Conference sessions. It was a great way to bribe the kids to behave while Jake and I were paying attention to the Saturday AM session. :) Ellie got a "Hello Kitty" painted on her face and was so proud she had to show everyone.

The balloon man made Connor a jet - the blue is supposed to be the exhaust trail

Jake was designated parent on the jumbo slide. I passed.
My Aunt Cecelia wrote a song about being on her Grandpa's farm, and there's a line in there about riding a pony that says, "I felt like a real cowgirl/though Grandpa walked beside." I couldn't help but think of that line as I was watching Ellie in heaven riding a pony- even though dad was right beside.
They had a bounce-house I was hoping to use to speed up this baby's arrival - but no such luck. This sign was sewn on the entrance. . sniff. .

After the fall fiesta, we entertained the kids with various art projects - mainly cutting.

Ellie has a big thing for puzzles. She can sit and do them for hours, which comes in handy when you're trying to quietly entertain an almost 3-year-old

It was rather windy on Sunday after Conference was over, so we went on a walk and then went to fly our kite

Ellie really wasn't as interested in it as we thought she'd be. She held on long enough to snap a picture.

Then she was off playing in the leaves or rolling down the hill. I guess she had a lot of pent-up energy!

As far as the baby goes, I'm on the schedule for an induction on Friday unless I go into labor on my own beforehand. I'm already at a 3, and Ellie came so fast I'm really worried about getting caught in traffic and having the baby on the side of the road somewhere. It's nice to have an end-date for sure in sight, but it's kind of weird too. We'll keep you posted. We're so excited to meet this newest little addition to our family- and I can't wait to be able to see my feet and be able to sleep on my back again!

Everytime I see your blog pop up on my Google reader, I get excited thinking it is the long awaited baby post. I will be tuning in later in the week, but I do hope that you don't have to wait until Friday!

I think this induction is an injustice to my voting! That said, I'm really excited for you and can't wait. Enjoy your last week of pregnancy, we'll be crossing our fingers for a girl:)

I started checking your blog every day to see if there's baby news. It sounds like you have your house in order and are ready to go. Good luck with the delivery on Friday.

Yeah, you better hop out the door with your first labor pain, unless Jake wants to play doctor :). I hope all goes well!
