#5: It's the inversion.
#4: We've been traveling. A lot. Every week.
#3: Jake and I haven't always traveled together, and the computer stayed with him.
#2: Too busy having fun in Idaho/Montana!
And the #1 excuse:
We forgot to bring our USB cable out west so I haven't been able to download pictures!!!
We've been having fun, but like I said we haven't had a way to download most of our pictures to post for your viewing pleasure. So anyway. here's the run-down of our trip:
We flew into Pocatello on July 21st, drove to IF, stayed there overnight, drove up to Bozeman the next day (Sunday), stayed there until Wednesday night with Jake's family, drove back to IF, drove to Alpine, WY the next day for my family reunion, came back Saturday, had a fish fry with some of the halibut and salmon my dad and brothers caught from their fishing trip to Alaska, then drove to Salt Lake the next day (Sunday) so Jake could start his rotation on Monday. Whew. 4 states in one week!
the next week, we were just around Salt Lake. I got to go to a "FlyFest"- a Flylady program that my cousin Amy was performing at. I got to go backstage and meet the Flylady, Marla Cilley. That was pretty cool. She invited me to her house. I might just have to go sometime. We went to a rodeo up in Heber that night - that was pretty fun until Ellie decided to do her throw-up for the day all over my sister-in-law Jessica. So we left pretty fast. I finally took her into the Dr (again) the next week, and the NP I saw agreed with me that her throwing up was being caused by mucous gagging her (she'd had a runny nose/cold symptoms for over 2 weeks by this point). We finally got her on Amoxicillan and she was cured! Yay for antibiotics!
We were in Utah for a few more days until the 8th of August, and drove up to Idaho yet again for Jake's family reunion. We made a stop in Logan on our way up so I could go to my friend Alli's bridal shower. It was fun to see Alli and Darci again- it'd been a long time!
Jake's family reunion was camping the next day up in Driggs, ID (that's close to Jackson Hole for all of you Easterners who read this). We had the "pleasant misery" of camping. It was cold, and the ground was lumpy enough that if I turned the right way I almost had lumbar support- except it was really hard. Even through my foam pad. Ellie was in bed with us, and during the night she turned sideways so Jake and I were forced to the sides of our pads. Connor kept getting out of his sleeping bag in the middle of the night for whatever reason, so we were waking up for that. Not a good night's sleep. Great company, bad sleeping!
The kids and I stayed the next week at my parent's house while Jake came back for more of his rotation. Connor enjoyed being my little sister Amber's shadow, and Ellie enjoyed crawling after the dog. Jake rejoined us on Thursday, and we came back to Salt Lake on Sunday night. So, there you have it. Our trip so far in a nutshell. We've really been enjoying ourselves. . .even more now that we've heard how hot NC has been!
These pictures are courtesy of my sister-in-law Cayenne (who we're staying with):
Cayenne (my sister-in-law) is BIG into knitting. She's amazing. She's been teaching me how to knit (I'm making a scarf!), and Connor wanted to try. Here's Connor playing with some kids knitting needles. He called it "snapping". Where he got that from, I haven't a clue, but it's funny!
