Everyone, meet my new pet.

Yay! Blogger finally worked. I was getting really frustrated after 2 unsuccessful days of trying to upload pictures. Anyway, here's the post that should have been from Sunday.
For years, I have bought sourdough bread for $3 a loaf to go oh-so-perfectly with soup, make a delicious vehicle for a sandwich, or just to eat by its sour self. I've loved the tartness, the crispy crust and chewy inside. But I recently started feeling resentful of that $3 a loaf. Why, I thought, am I paying this much for bread, when with a little forethought I could get the same thing for pennies on the dollar?!? I finally did something about it this week. I'm now responsible for another mouth to feed. I've named him "Mel." Mel will live in my refridgerator and provide me with yummy bread whenever I want. Yes, my new "pet" is a symbiotic blend of yeast and bacteria : that wonderful, mystical stuff known as sourdough starter.

Yes, thanks to Wendy, I can now make sourdough to my heart's content. It's a very good weekend at the DaBell house.

It's been kind of a weird week around Chapel Hill. The whole communtiy seemes to be in shock after the murder of Eve Carson. It's so weird to think that while I was lying in my bed that tragedy was happening only a couple of miles from where we live. I hope this case is solved soon and the killer is brought to justice. We went to a concert on campus for Joshua Bell (I know you're jealous again, Abby), and for his encore performance he dedicated a song to Eve Carson. Such a sad event.

Other than that, it's been a weird week weather wise. We've had some torrential downpours (Tuesday and Friday) and some absoultely beautiful days (Wendesday and Thursday). The kids and I built a tent in our living room on Friday to pass the time. It was great! We read stories, played with flashlights, and Connor had his quiet time in there. Good way to pass the time. :)

Another symbiotic relationship: Girls and Shoes!
