The magical healing powers of crickets. . . .

I was teaching preschool this week, and the subject was "Creepy Crawlers," i.e. bugs. So, for a visual, since the bugs are just barely starting to come out, I went down to my local pet store where they were kind enough to just give me 3 crickets. We came home, and put them in Connor's little bug house. Jake and I went out that night (we got to go see Yo-Yo Ma performing as part of the "Silk Road Ensamble"- a quartet - very awesome), only to come home to find no little crickets in the bug house. There was a little hole in the mesh either made by the crickets or Connor, and they were nowhere to be found. I was sad that the kids wouldn't have their neat visual for preschool the next day, but also because there were now 3 crickets loose in my house somewhere. We actually found one that night, which we put in a glass jar this time. :). We actually found the remains of one during preschool the next day, and Jake found one later that same night while I was at work. So, all the crickets have been found. Connor has since decided that crickets make good pets, and has insisted on holding them. The funniest thing came on Friday, when he stubbed his toe on something. Through his tears, he asked for his crickets. He then put them by his toes and said that "My crickets will help my toes feel better!" Apparently, they did, because the stubbed toe was all but forgotten soon after. Maybe a future home remedy? :)

That is hilarious Abby! With all the bumps and bruises our Little Man has been getting, we may have to buy our crickets in Bulk!
