Connor, Dear, I love you so

Connor had his very first Primary Program yesterday. He did great saying his part. He zoned out a little during the singing- I got a few waves sitting in the audience- but it was fun. I can't believe that I have a child old enough for that!!! Connor came home from preschool with this today. We don't have a dog named Tracy (although he informed me this afternoon that that's what he's planning on naming our dog when we do get one), but apparently he's grateful for her. I just thought this was so cute, I just had to share :).
I was doing my scripture study yesterday in my favorite part of the Book of Mormon- Mosiah 3 and 4. As I was reading about putting off the natural man and becoming like a little child, I couldn't help but think of Connor (Ellie's too deep into the terrible two's right now :) ).
He's not a perfect child by any means, but he really is "submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love." It's kind of ironic that we're supposed to teach our children to behave. . like they already are. As I was thinking about the last part of verse 19, "willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father", I started thinking about this whole Proposition 8 thing. To those who oppose it, the people who voted yes have no valid reason other than "religious grounds," which are somehow [to them] not a good enough reason. I was thinking about parenting and how often the reason we make our kids do something is simply "because I said so." We may not understand the reasons that the Lord requires us to do certain things. Often we don't. The world is turning into a scary place, and I think we're going to have many more times when we have to do things just because he "said so". I'm so grateful that we do have a living prophet who is the mouthpiece of the Lord.
Anyway, sorry if that was rambling. I'm enjoying a stretch off of work, which is awesome. It's nice to be with my babies (and babe of a hubby) again! I work again Thursday, so I have a few more days to enjoy. . .

Thanks for the cool post. Garrett and I were talking tonight about the same thing (obeying the prophet.) I likened it to a parent and child. Why are we to follow our parents? Sometimes the answer we get is, "Because I said so." Although we may not know all the reasons, the parent truly has their children in mind. Such it is with the Lord.
