Today Connor was doing some "experimenting" with Potato Pearls as I was making dinner. I was having to bite my tongue, telling my inner control freak, " It's good for him to experiment. It really isn't that many. Let him be a kid." After a few minutes of him stirring his dehydrated potatoes around in a measuring cup while asking for more ingredients (to which I told him no),he told me, "You're such a nice mommy." Well, that melted my heart. I said thank you. A few moments later, a thought occurred to me. I hadn't been feeling like I was being particularly nice when he said it, so I asked him, "What do mean mommies do?"
His answer: "If you got a sword and cut my head off so I died, you'd be a mean mommy."
Low expectations will never disappoint, I guess. :)

That was HILARIOUS! I guess I don't have to worry that I'm a mean mommy!
That is awesome! I laughed out loud. Why, why, why are boys so violent? I guess we can give many of them A+'s for growing out of it eventually.
that made me feel so much better! Like my mom told me when i was feeling like a monster mom, "at the end of the day their arm isn't broken you're a good mom."
Ahahaa! I can totally see little Connor saying that. Super cute.
I'm gonna have to agree with Connor. That would be a mean mommy thing to do. Way to go Abbs! You passed!
This is so funny! I love the funny little things that kids say! Glad to hear that you haven't fallen into the mean mom category!
Just had to share - a few days after I read this post Aaron and I were having a convo about something and it ended with me saying, it's hard to be disappointed with such low expectations! He asked who said that (he could tell I was quoting someone) and I got to tell him this story. We now have a good laugh over it and frequently reference it as am example of "bad mommy" or "bad wife" behavior. Thanks for giving us another inside joke!
