I just had to write down a few comments into the blogosphere about the election tonight. I didn't vote for Obama, and am kind of nervous to see how he does. Barack Obama and I have very different views on almost every issue. I feel like I still have a lot of unanswered questions on what kind of person he really is, and what I do know of his associations makes me a little worried. The way his campaign went after Joe the Plumber and that reporter in Florida for asking a legitimate question is downright scary (since when did a PRIVATE citizen deserve to have their dirty laundry aired out in front of the country just because they asked a question to someone running for office? That's our job as citizens!! THEY represent US!). But the people have spoken, and Obama is the man.
It is inspiring to think of the milestone that our country has reached in electing our first black president. Finally, we can put to rest the notion that America somehow treats African-Americans as "inferior". He does give an inspiring speech, and I hope he does hold true to his promise to listen to the voice of those who oppose him.
In my scripture reading a couple of weeks ago, I came across these verses in D & C 3:1-3
"The works, and the designs, and the purposes of God cannot be frustrated, neither can they come to naught.
For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round.
Remember, remember that it is not the work of God that is frustrated, but the work of men"
As the news stations started to call the election for Obama tonight, I actually felt a huge sense of peace. Yes, there is a lot at stake. Things won't necessarily be easy even though the Lord is in charge. But he is in charge. So, with that in mind, I give Obama my support. May he serve his country well, and strive to uphold the freedoms that have made this country so great.

Very well said, Abby. There is no sense in looking back--it is time to look to the future and do our best as citizens of the United States.
God bless America!
Thank you Abby, I'm so glad I read your blog this morning.
Well said, I also give my support to anyone who is going to run this country.
Strangely enough, I feel peace about Obama winning too--or at least that everything will be okay and that God is still in charge.
Those are some great thoughts Abby.
Thanks again for letting Jason crash at your place. He had a fun time with you and Jake and the kids. And way to go on your race! Awesome!
I try not to be too obsessive about facebook so I use Brannon's account, in hopes that that will deter me. :) Friday works great, Belize will be so excited!
